Bloody HellFor whatever the tortures of hell, I think the boredom of heaven would be even worse!! 26 mai Action is Eloquence!Yes, I am alive. I'm a bad blogger.....just like others I know! So what is new with me? I'm sick right now with strep throat. No, not fun at all. I hate being sick. I had such a fun long weekend, I guess I'm being punished for my fun. Nothing x-rated, just some good ole drinking and dancing kind of fun. My cousin Cassie came to town (from Calgary, yeah if I was her, I'd want out of cowtown too), so her and another cousin, Nathan, and I went drinking and dancing Saturday and Sunday night. It was a lot of fun. I hadn't been out drinking/dancing in forever.
So recently, I purchased a piano. Yes, a piano. I used to play when I was younger, but haven't touched one in years. I used to move around a lot but I'm a bit more settled than I used to be. I'm in the same apartment for almost three years. That's the longest since I was 18 and lived at home. So I decided it was time to buy my piano. It's a gorgeous piano.....and I'm loving playing again. It will take me some time to get back to playing my Mozart and Beethoven. I can't wait. Anyways, here is a picture of my new baby; the new addtion to the family! So what else is new? Yes I'm going to Ireland in July. I found a friend who wants to go, and I can get time off work. So I'm really looking forward to another trip. It's been almost two years since London so I'm itching to do more traveling. I'm saving Germany for October 2008 so Ireland was next on my list along with Russia. My friend Shelley is up for Ireland so that's where we're going. It's going to be so much fun going to the homeland. Well this poor sick girl needs her rest. I will try to update this blog more often. Since my Oilers are out of the playoffs, my other blog isn't taking up much time. I am cheering for the Ottawa Senators.....they must defeat the evil Ducks. Evil......they are full of evilry!!! 8 avril Yeah I suckOkay, I really suck. I mean, yes I do but seriously I suck. I have not blogged for months. It's been over three months.
I blame the Edmonton Oilers. They have sucked the life out of me. They failed to make the playoffs this year. Hell, they failed to win more than two games in the last 20 games. FUCK. You're really testing my loyalty but I am a lifer. Oiler fans are lifers. We cannot and will not abandon our team. If an Oiler fan happens to do that, they're probably from Calgary. Calgary is the bandwagon city.
I mentioned back in January I was thinking of looking for a new job. Yes I did, and yes I found an amazing one. It's more fun, it's more work (seriously, it's a good thing. Who wants to be bored all bloody day? Not me), it's more responsibility and the most important reason; it's more money! Hmmm money.
However, a new job means no vacation to Europe this year. I get three weeks paid vacation (plus a week and a half at xmas), but I need to start banking them up. I want to do Germany/Austria for three weeks so it'll take me almost a year to bank back up to three weeks. I can pre-take my vacation but then I'd be behind forever. Also, if I take my three weeks this fall, it means I can't take time off this summer and I need some time this summer. There is a possible family get-together in BC or I will go home to Manitoba. So Europe must wait another year (unless I can swing something this fall.....I'm looking into taking time off unpaid. If they go for it, it's possible Deutschland is back on for October but it's a long shot).
I got to see the greatest band on earth again recently: MEGADETH!!! Dave and the boys opened for Ronnie Dio's Black Sabbath. The Sabbath were good, but Megadeth stole the show. Seriously, they were fantastic!!! Check out this review....told ya they rocked!!! Megadeth rolled out some old and new material. Their new album drops next month and I cannot wait for it. The new material kicked ass. I'm loving them. I hope they come back to Edmonton on a headlining gig. One hour of Megadeth is not enough. But good news, I remember the entire show this time. Last time they were here (in 2005, I believe, on the inaugural Gigantour), I may have had one or five too many drinks. lol.
I spent this past weekend watching curling. Yes curling. Don't knock it until you watch it, and even if you don't like it after watching it, don't fucking knock it. The men's world championships were in Edmonton this year and it was incredible. I was secretly cheering for the Swedish team to win it all. I know, not very Canadian of me but I love the Swedish team who is led by three-time world champion, Peja Lindholm. What an amazing man. Too bad his team didn't show this week. They played like shit, he was spectacular but he couldnt' save the team. So the final had my country, Canada, versus my heritage, Germany. I did cheer for Canada but would not have been sad to see the Germans win. But they played horrible and Canada won easily. Way to go boys!!!!!
Well I don't really celebrate Easter. I'm only in it for the chocolate. But for those who do, Happy Easter!!!!
Here's to Peja Lindholm and winning it all next year!!
7 janvier Two months?Damn, it's been almost two months since I posted here. I have no excuse. I do have another blog, devoted exclusively to my excellent Edmonton Oilers. However, my Oilers have been sucking ass big time lately, draining the life out of me. Although this week they played better, but still lost the last two games (one in OT and other in the blasted shootout). December was a horrible month for them. I think they had only TWO wins and NINE losses. Yeah it was not pretty. I'm glad December is over and done with.
We all know what the Oilers need: defensemen. And fast. This team is on life support and if Kevin Lowe doesn't make a move asap (within the next two weeks), the season is practically done. They are three points out of the playoffs right now. The next two weeks brings 7 games. Make or break time. If this team tanks still, it's selling time. That means Ryan Smyth is a goner. He's a free agent next year, has turned down several good deals thus far so I'm guessing if he can't be signed within the next few weeks, he's for sale. And I never thought I'd say this, good. He's turned down some damn good money, and if he's going to whine and bitch about getting paid, get the fuck out of my city. I'm all for rewarding this guy for his years of service to this team, but not at the expense of the future of the team. He's making 3.5 mill right now, so I'm thinking no more than 5 should lock him in. BUT, he probably wants a five year deal with 5 mill a year. He turned down 4 mill a year for three years, so he's obviously looking to get a long-term deal (hmmm we all know how well that went with Pronger). I don't know, either sign him or trade him. Get it done, either way.
So other than hockey woes, life is good. I went home to Manitoba for Christmas. It was fabulous. I was spoiled as usual. Then again, I totally deserve to be spoiled. :) It's hard getting back into the work world again; that first week back is a killer. Maybe time to find a new job? I'm thinking about it. It's not challenging enough, and actually boring me to death. So instead of death, time for a change. We'll see. I'm going to apply around, see what else I can find. We'll see.
So Happy New Year to y'all. And let it be a better year for my Edmonton Oilers. 13 novembre 'Tis the Season'Tis the season folks. Yes Christmas is just around the corner. You know what that means; presents!!!! So I've spent the past week putting up my xmas tree, and bringing out all my decorations. With all the snow we've been getting lately, it just feels like Christmas and winter around here.
So it's about a month and a week until I get to go home to Manitoba. I was home back in June so it'll be nice to get back. I was checking out flights last week, and yowza....the prices are horrible. For a roundtrip flight from Edmonton to Winnipeg, it was $700. Ouch. I've never paid more than $500 before. I'll just need to be patient, wait for the seat sales. They'd better be a bloody seat sale coming soon. So I have today off work. Yes that is awesome. Gotta love those long weekends. I would prefer a four or five day weekend, but you don't always get want you want! hehehe. So what shall I do on my day off? I'm not sure. It's snowing right now, so I don't feel like going shopping. I've got almost all my xmas shopping done already. Yeah baby!! I am good. Very good!!! I'm sure you've noticed I have not mentioned the Oilers yet. Well I'm quite ticked off with them. They lost to St. Louis yesterday. Yeah, bottom of the barrel. They've hit rock bottom for sure. So the good news, no where to go but up. I shouldn't be all that surprised. They're going through their typical November blues. It's depressing. I want my hockey team to snap out of it. It could be worse. We could be the Sens. Yeah, who'd have thought the Senators would be having a worse year than the Oil, or anyone else. It's shocking. And sad. Very sad. 4 novembre The prodigal daughter returns!Well it's been awhile (damn I just looked, my last post was in August. Damn that's crazy). I don't have much of an excuse for my absence. Just the same old.....busy with work, friends and hockey. Sounds exciting eh? Oh yes it is!
I've been working extra lately. Gotta love that overtime. Ch-ching!! But that should be all the overtime I will working for now. So combined with going to hockey games, hanging with friends at the pub or going to movies, I barely have time to come online. I'm also taking a course, just for fun. It's early British history. I just felt like taking a course, having some fun.
So how about an Oilers update? Did anyone watch the game last night? Oh what an awful game. The Oilers were down by 2 goals with a couple minutes left in the game. They pulled the goalie, and scored a goal. It was now 3-2. The Oilers get another goal. It's 3-3. Wait, the ref waves the goal off due to a "hand pass" off the face-off. What? Hand pass my ass. Now I was at the game last night, and that has to be the worst call I've ever seen. First, I can't remember the last time a hand pass was called on a face-off. Second, what the hell was Mick McGeough (or Magoo is you will) calling that? He was in the corner, behind the net, yards away from the face-off. Now if it was really a hand-pass, would the referee not call it? Or the two linesmen? They can call hand passes.
Refs need to be made more accountable for their actions. Too much is dealt with behind closed doors. No more. I think if you make such a blatant mistake as Magoo did, there needs to be repercussions. I mean, you have a ref, who has a very well-known reputation of phantom calls. He's in the corner, behind the net, there is ten seconds left in the game, and he calls a hand pass on the face-off. He was obviously looking for something, anything. You have the linesmen and other ref in a better position that yourself, and yet you're confident enough to make the call??? Sure, no bias at all. Magoo admits after the game he blew it. He blew the call. Uh, duh of course you did. Doesn't do the Oilers any good. You cost them one point, and a chance at two if they won in overtime.
Oh icing on the cake, Oilers coach MacT gets fined $10,000 for commenting after the game. So we get screwed on the call and a fine. Thanks. Here's the cherry....Magoo does not get fined nor suspended for his abominable call. Thanks again.
Okay, so a disallowed goal and a goal by Dallas that should not have been allowed (poor Roli was interferred by baby Lindros). A tough game for the Oilers. Sure, they didn't play great but also not bad. They had a bad first period, but dominated the second and came out hard in the second half of the third.
Did they deserve to win? Who gives a fuck!! It's not about deserving to win or lose. It's about battling hard, coming back and putting yourself into a position to win. The Oilers did that. That's Oilers hockey. They battled hard, got back into the game and tied it up. One question: why is Magoo always our ref? He seems to ref A LOT of our games. My guess is each ref is given a certain division or conference to ref. Is that accurate?? I'm not sure. Magoo should have been fined at the minimum. I think a suspension was due and public. I'm tired of the refs being admonished behind closed doors. Of course, he doesn't even get reprimanded for this. A public hanging is all I'm asking. Is that too much to ask??? Now what should be done with the NHL's officiating problem? There is a problem. I've heard talk about following what the NFL does, where the officials work together. Maybe we can have a bit more of that. Or bring in challenges. A coach can challenge a particular call, one that is not "reviewable" such as face-offs. Obviously, put a limit to the number of challenges but I don't see why this would not work? Sure, refs make mistakes but the rules are set up in a way that if a mistake is made (that is not goal-related), they can't review it. This needs to change. So how are the Oilers going to respond? They are heading off on a road trip, playing five games in seven nights (yikes). Are they going to respond positively, use this as motivation and get back their edge? I say YES! Maybe it's wishful thinking but I just feel this is a huge motivator. It has to be. So with my Eskies out of the playoffs, its all Oilers, all the time around here. So with my boys on a two week roadtrip, I should have more time to spend around here (of course I will be watching all of them on tv, I am a die-hard fan).
24 août It's that time again.....I've been a bad blogger. It's been over a month since I blogged. Damn I'm bad. I need someone to whip me (hmmm) back into shape. Damn I enjoy being bad though.
I've also been cheating. Yes, I've been cheating on msn spaces with blogger. I started an Oilers-only blog a few months back and it's kept me busy. Yes, I'm very bad. But isn't bad really good? :)
I hate the new msn spaces. Or maybe I just hate change? Actually, it's both.
What else have I been doing? Or should I say who have I been doing? :)
I went to an event put on by the Edmonton Eskimos....football 101. Yes it's for girls who know nothing about football. Well I already knew lots, I probably could have taught the course. But it was nice, two former Eskies taught the group, they were excellent and damn handsome! Yumm! Plus we got a tour of the dressing rooms and got to go onto the field, the great Commonwealth Stadium. Hells yeah, it was great. I got my hands on the Eskimos....I mean his grey cup ring. I would not mind putting my hands all over......well, you get the picture. Now if only the boys would start playing better. They are in real jeopardy of not making the playoffs, breaking their 34 year record for making the playoffs, the record in all of North American professional sports. Come on boys, you are the defending champs. You're better than the rest of the teams!!! Come on Ricky...lead the boys to victory again! You're not out of it....yet. I still believe!!!
Okay, there is my very needed update.
21 juillet I've never known any trouble that an hour's reading didn't assuage!Good day everyone. It's been quite awhile since I've updated. No, I am not dead. I managed to refrain from slashing my wrists. Hard, yes it was. But I managed nonetheless.
So what have I been doing since you've heard from me last? Well I went home to Manitoba for two weeks. I had a fabulous time with my family and friends. I don't have too much to tell, since as I already said, I was in Manitoba (aka hicksville). So not much to do around there except drink. :)
I've also kept a close eye on my Oilers. They traded the evil Chris Pronger, who I now believe is the devil-incarnate. No doubt about it. Apparently, Chrissy couldn't keep it in his pants, the wife found out and demands he get out of town. This is from the mouth of Craig Simpson, so it's not conjecture. It's fact. Chris is a whore. Fact. Chris is a pussy. Fact. Chris does not desever to be a member of the Edmonton Oilers. Fact.
So after Chrissy's departure, there have numerous others. These were mostly rental players, and we don't mind seeing them go. Samsonov is in Montreal, having been paid a monster contract for what? Inconsistant play and the occassional great goal. Good riddance.
Spacek is gone. Whoever will we find to replace him: to replace his giveaways, and defensive-zone blunders. I have no doubt we will.
Peca is gone, and so is his 4 million dollar salary. Sure, we'll miss him (sarcasm).
Georgie is gone (Laraque) to Phoenix, even though he desperately wanted to stay. Sure we'll give you less money but wait a minute, there shall be no no-trade clause for you. You're a fourth line enforcer. We won't give you a no-trade clause, but Phoenix will plus oodles of money. Buh-bye!!!
So it's been a long summer already for the Oilers. But good news.....Horcoff and Stoll have resigned. Hemsky will as well very soon. We finally got our goalie in Roloson! Woohooo! So things are coming together. All we need is a top 4 d-man and this team is going to rock you. Yes, I'm calling it already. Edmonton will win the cup next year. Last year, I said they needed a goalie and they'd be contenders. Well folks, we have the goalie and so the cup shall return home very soon!!!!
Well that's all folks, I'm out.
24 juin Once again, the Oil can't win!Apparently, five days after losing game seven of the Stanley Cup final, our wonderful Chris Pronger wants out of Edmonton. I hear his wife does not like living here. What? Is she fucking mental? Yes, she is. How could you not love it here? Well you know what, suck it up bitch. Pronger has finally found a good team, a successful young team that has so much potential. He played for a decade in Siberia, also known as St. Louis. It's time for you to sacrifice and let Chris have a good career. This is a lesson to all you hockey players: either don't marry or especially don't marry whiney Americans. Oooh I want to go home, I hate Canada, I hate Edmonton. ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In the past, Edmonton lost players to money (hello Comrie, Weight, Guerin, Carter, Joseph, etc) but to lose it to not liking it here?? That's uncomprehensible. I am sick and tired of the exodus of players out of Edmonton. This was suppose to be different, we were suppose to be able to keep players and attract new ones. All of a sudden, we're back to August 2005. Same old problems as usual. I'm so angry at these players.......honour your contract. You came here and signed a FIVE year contract. Honour it.
Watch out Mrs. Pronger, I'm coming for you!!!
21 juin The only cure for grief is action!Well it is over. Hockey season has finally ended (damn, it's been a long year) so I will not dwell on its ending (heartbreaking). Many good things happened this year, the Oil made the finals (first time in 16 years so we're very proud of them). This was my first year as a season ticket holder, which was super awesome. Playoff hockey was spectacular and I had a great time. We look forward to next year, when my Edmonton Oilers will be victorious!!
So what shall I discuss? I've been in hockey mode for months and months, I am actually looking forward to a break. So what is upcoming for Miss Scarlett? I have several concerts upcoming, tonight is Godsmack and then on Sunday is System of a Down. I'm really looking forward to both. I'm in total metal mode now, so bring it on.
Then on Monday, I'm heading home to hicksville, I mean Manitoba, for a couple weeks. I haven't been home since xmas so this shall be lots of fun.
I am also in big-time planning mode for my trip to Germany in October. I've been trying to set up an itinerary (which is almost done) and a budget (almost done as well). So things are really looking up. I will have to start booking my flight and hotels soon. I was told to wait to book my flight until closer to the day (thanks Foxy). I will talk to some travel agents when I get back from Manitoba in mid-July. I will have a final itinerary set by then so when I chat with the agents, I will have a definite plan. Things are looking good!
So you ask, where are you going? I shall tell you of course!
Tentatively this is my plan:
So that is the plan, it may change a bit here and there. I decided not to see Leipzig, Hechingen, Stuttgart, and Wittenburg. I will save those for another time. I really want to see the big cities, and take my day trips to other cities (I'm really looking forward to Prague).
I hope to go to Russia in 2008 (Foxy may join me? I sure hope so). But first up is Germany!!!
14 juin Still Believin'I STILL BELIEVE!!!!!
Come on MacT, get our boys ready for tonight! I wil accept nothing else but a victory!!!!
UPDATE: Good job MacT, great victory in game five. What a beautiful overtime winner (short handed goal too)!!!
UPDATE: OILERS WIN GAME SIX by a score of 4-0. Yes blowout baby!! It's going to a game seven! DO YOU BELIEVE? FUCK YES!!!! I do! They are going to do it, the City of Champions are once again!!!!!
UPDATE: Game Seven.....lots and lots of tears.
28 mai When Hell freezes over, I'll play hockey there too!
It has happened......the Edmonton Oilers are heading to the STANLEY CUP FINAL for the first time in sixteen years. Oh yes, they boys played a great game last night, beating Anaheim 2-1. Not much else to say......let's look at the pictures.
Oilers celebrate the outstanding victory!
Ryan Smyth and Dwayne "our savior" Roloson share an intimate moment! lol
Our captain Jason Smith posing with the Western Conference Trophy, Clarence Campbell trophy! Be careful, don't touch it. Good boy!!!
Whyte Ave was crazy again last night. Late into the night, you could still hear the celebrations. Since I live only a block away, I could hear 'em. Loved it! But of course, there were some idiots. I could smell something burning at 3 am.....I guess some idiots starting burning signs and so on. Retards of course!
Bring home the Cup boys!!! Edmonton is waiting! We believe!!!
27 mai Open up your hate, and let it flow into me!
Last night, I rocked out to DISTURBED at Red's. And yes, they are very disturbed but in a great way. For anyone who is oblivious to this band (therefore, making you completely fucking retarded), check them out. That's them playing on my site right now. Better than your Backstreet Boys eh? HELL YES!!!!
Okay, the concert last night was fantastic. The band kicked ass, great show by the boys! They can rock out with the best of them. David, the lead singer, is another one with a killer voice. The crowd was lovin' him!
The only problem: why the hell were they playing at Red's? It's a small restaurant/bar in West Edm Mall. This was the first time I ever went to Red's and that place fucking sucks. It's the worst place for a concert. It's small, the set-up was completely mental and the lines for alcohol were crazy long. There were only 2 bartenders....what the fuck? Hello, you have a metal concert and only two bartenders behind the bar? Duh, that's retarded. So hopefully there won't be too many great bands wanting to play at Red's. Not the best place, and Disturbed could have sold out a larger venue easily, like our arena, Rexall Place.
Anyways, all that matters is the band was fucking amazing! Thanks for coming to Edmonton finally. I've been waiting a few years for ya!
Rock on!!!!
(p.s. Go Oilers tonight.....finish off the ducks please)
21 mai Chase after truth like hell and you'll free yourself, even though you never touch its coat-tails!!Our saviour.....Roli the goalie Pronger (or as I have dubbed him, Prongalicious) celebrating his goal Our Captain Jason Smith throwing the body around (hmm he can throw my body around anytime!!)
Okay, the Oilers are now up two games on the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. Well, they're not so mighty anymore, are they? Nooooo!!!!! Mwahahaha!!!
Whyte Ave is alive with the sounds of honking horns. I live a block from it, and I hear it now. I may go join the celebrations for a bit. We are celebrating big time. This was such a big win.....Roli basically stole this game. What an amazing performance, he's our man!!!
So the Oilers are one step closer to making their first appearance in the Stanley Cup final in sixteen years......it's very exciting!!!
Well I have nothing else to say.....I'm off to check out Whyte Ave for a bit.
---------------------------------------------------
UPDATE: OILERS WIN A WILD GAME THREE AND NOW LEAD THE SERIES 3 GAMES TO 0. THEY ARE ON THE VERGE OF GOING TO THE STANLEY CUP FINALS. FINALLY, AFTER A LONG 16 YEAR WAIT, WE ARE GOING BACK TO THE DANCE AGAIN!!!!!!!
17 mai DO YOU BELIEVE???THE EDMONTON OILERS ARE OFF TO THE CONFERENCE FINALS FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 14 YEARS, and will be playing the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim!!!!!!!
We believe baby....we believe!!!!
Michael Peca scoring the winning goal
Our goalie Roli (Roloson) Bring on the ducks, it's hunting season!!!!
I said way back in September, watch out for the Oilers. Even though I picked the Sens to win it all (I wasn't the only one), I said watch out for the Oilers. If they get a goalie...watch out (I also predicted that the Toronto Maple Leafs, or Leaves as Danessa, Roxy and I say, would not make the playoffs. So what can I say, I am brilliant!!).
On September 28th, I posted the following on my NHL season prediction blog:
"But this is the year of the Senators. They are going all the way!!!! So my second favorite team will be winning the Stanley Cup. However, the new rules make it possible for my Oilers to have a good run so they could possibly make it to the finals....and if they do, they will lay the smackdown on the Sens (but that might be next season, we need a goalie). "
So yes, I know everything!! ------------------------------------------------- update: Oilers win game one with a score of 3-1
11 mai Our character is what we do when we think no one is looking!Good Morning everyone! I shall shock everyone with a non-sports related blog. I won't dare mention the word that rhymes with cocky! lol
Roxy and I went to a concert the day after a big celebration in this city (it's a topic I shall not utter), Our Lady Peace! They were fantastic! Although we were extremely tired from our previous night's celebration, we dragged our tired asses to the concert. Beer perked us up (hmmm beer) and we were ready to politely rock out.
Raine Maida is a great frontman, he had great energy and even went into the crowd to sing. He's got an incredible voice but what a performance!!!!
There are tons of concerts coming up in Edmonton in the next couple months. I have tickets to most and will find tickets to the rest. I shall triumph!!!
Upcoming concerts: Disturbed (May 26), Godsmack (June 21) and System of a Down (June 25), plus the Unholy Alliance featuring Slayer (July 11). So after a very slow winter, concert mania is back in Edmonton and heavy metal is our music of choice around here!!!
------------------------------------------------------------
This was supposed to be a non-hockey related blog but too bad folks. My boys won in TRIPLE overtime last night so it must be blogged about!!! The Oilers dominated the game from start to finish and were finally rewarded with a victory. We're back in this series baby!!!!!
First, we had our Rally caps on last night, or should I say Rolli caps! Roloson is our man, leading the troops into victory and flashing the glove in the mode of Grant Fuhr!!! Way to go Roloson! We finally found our goalie!!!
A shout out to Ryan Smyth, who was hit with the puck in the second period, lost several teeth, but returned in the third period to fight hard, eventually assisting on the winning goal in overtime! We love you Ryan!!! Smitty is the heart and soul of this team!!!
The boys are back in this series and we're looking to tie things up on Friday! Bring on the sharks....we've got our harpoon gun and we're ready to hunt!!!!
One more shout out to the other hero of the night, Shawn Horcoff for his winning goal in triple overtime! The crowd went wild and it was the most amazing game!!!!!
The boys are back with a vengeance!!!!
On a side note, how sad is everyone with how the Ottawa Senators are playing? What's wrong with them? They were easily the team of the year, easily the best team out there but still can't put it together for the playoffs. I'm sick. They are down 3 games to 0. Yeah 0 games won. It's utterly embarrassing. I guess it could be worse....they could be like the Toronto Maple Leaves and not even make the playoffs. So it could always be worse.
Only two teams have ever come back from 3-0 so it's definitely possible but they way they're playing, damn it's going to be hard. Come on guys....show some bloody intensity!!!! Remember, you're the best in the league!!!!
Anyways, at least we have our Edmonton Oilers leading the way for Canada. They will be Canada's team very soon if Ottawa loses tonight! Come on....you're ruining the all Canadian final possibility!!!!
Sharks are going to down in Oil......
-------------------------------------------
Ok folks, another update. The Oilers have won game four and the series is tied up! Yes it is tied. The boys won 6-3 tonight, so awesome! The crowd was the loudest it's ever been, I'm sure of it. It was truly exciting!!!
Hemsky and Smyth Celebrating
Our Captain, Jason Smith, scoring the WINNING GOAL !!!
--------------------------------------------------------------
UPDATE: OILERS WIN GAME FIVE AND NOW CONTROL THE SERIES AND CAN WIN IT AT HOME ON WEDNESDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1 mai OILERS OILERS OILERS OILERS !!!!I'm in shock.....my boys have done it. I called this from the beginning. I said Edmonton Oilers in six games. No one believed me. I kept saying, you're underestimating them. They are contenders, all they needed was a goalie (and damn, Roloson is the goalie of the year right now), and they'd shock people. Hell, I'm in shock. I was there tonight. I saw them win, I saw them clinch the series. Growing up in Manitoba, I've wanted this for so long. To see my boys at home, to see them win and see them clinch a series.
AMAZING!!!
Whyte Ave was crazy....fun....awesome! Roxy and I had some good times tonight. I shall post pics tomorrow. I'm too tired right now. I've got to go to bed. Damn, got to go to work in five hours!
OILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HEMSKY SCORING THE WINNING GOAL
The Great Ales Hemsky celebrating his WINNING goal
update: CALGARY is a loser! Yes they certainly are. The Oilers continue in the playoffs while our neighbors to the south will be golfing! hahahaha. It feels so good! I was looking forward to a Battle of Alberta, but it's nice to have Calgary on the sidelines while the Oilers make their run to the Cup!!! hahahaha !!
29 avril Victory At All Costs!!!
It's been another marvelous day for Canada's greatest hockey team, the Edmonton Oilers!! Since the game was in Detroit and at 1 pm local time, my friend Roxy and I decided to go to a pub to watch the game. So we made sure we went early enough, 11:30 am, and decided upon Elephant and Castle on Whyte Ave. However, all the good seats were reserved. Ummm, didn't know you had to do that. So we say, screw that. We're not sitting upstairs with a tiny tv, so we go across the street to Hudson's. Great place, great atmosphere and even better, great seats!!!
So the game gets underway, the place is packed and the crowd is totally electric!! The Oilers take a 3-0 lead in tehesecond period, although it's cut to 3-1 right before the second period ends. No matter, the Oilers are playing fantastic!! It's so great to see this finally. It's been a long year, and in particular, we finally have a decent goalie. What a thought, a goalie who actually stops the puck. It's truly amazing!!!! lol
The Oilers play a great game, even if they give up another goal with 20 seconds in the game. It does not matter, it's too late. Smelios Chelios can go home and cry in his beer!!!
One more game and the series is ours. Game six is Monday in Edmonton (and of course I have tickets). Roxy is going to try and get some too. We had such a great time on Thursday's game, well not the game itself (hello, refs suck) but in the pre-game party. Outside the arena, they had beer gardens set up, face painting and so on. It was fantastic. So we had to partake in the festivites of course!!!
Following today's game, Roxy and I stood on Whyte Ave cheering as the cars passed by. It was wild. We went back to the bar not long afterwards, sat outside in the patio, met some fellow Oiler fans, and continued to cheer the passing cars! What an incredible day!
Next up, we stayed for part of the Sens game at 5 pm. Yup, drinking for over five hours at this point. We eventually ventured back to my place to watch the rest of the game, and then part of the Flames game too. Unfortunately, the Flames just won (but that's okay, if we and the Flames win, and the Stars lose their series, it'll be a Battle of Alberta, and the Flames shall die a painful and embarrassing death! It will be great)!!
Better news, the Ottawa Senators have won their series and sent the defending champs, Tampa Bay to the golf course! hahahahahaha Buh-bye!!!
Okay, enough chatting. I'm totally exhausted from the partying today. What a great day!!!
Let me close with a picture of Ryan Smyth celebrating his goal today! Good job Smitty!!!!
26 avril Genius may have its limitations, but stupidity is not thus handicapped !OILERS WIN IN DOUBLE OVERTIME
Last night was a magical evening. The Edmonton Oilers stepped onto the ice for game three, with thoughts of glory and THE silver cup in their minds. As they looked above, they saw history. They saw the championship banners hanging high above. The history of the Edmonton Oilers permeates the entire arena. The coaching and managerial staff have an abundance of former Oiler players in their midst. History is everywhere, and a pride in this history remains prevalant among current players and the people of Edmonton. Can history repeat itself? One million Edmontonians sure hope so!!
The Oilers are riding a wave of confidence following their solid win in game two. They are ready to continue the momentum in game three. Can they??
Yes they can. The Oilers come out and dominate the Red Wings, for about 47 minutes. One of our new Oilers, Yaroslav Spacek, scores four minutes into the game. The crowd roars, and the decimal level reaches a fevering pitch. Oiler fans have been waiting three long years for the playoffs, and now playoff fever has gripped the city once again.
The Wings tie up the game but that doesn't last long. The Oilers score two more goals, by Ryan Smyth and Raffi Torres respectively. The crowd roars again, and chants of "Manny Manny" fill the arena again.
Taking a 3-1 lead into middle of the third period, the Oilers are playing disciplined hockey. However, they run into penalty trouble half way through the third period (and those watching the game know the penalty that lead to the 3-2 goal was somewhat of a phantom call). The Red Wings score on the power play. It's 3-2. Oh no, 18 seconds later they tie the game up. The crowd is shocked and a hush falls over the arena. Can the Oilers pull it together and win this game? They deserve to. They played superb hockey for three-quarters of the game, but will that mental lapse that lead to the 3-3 goal hurt them? Can they come back?
Absolutely! The games heads into overtime. The Red Wings are all over the Oilers, but Dwayne Roloson keeps the team in the game. The Oilers have finally found their number-one NHL goalie. They have struggled all season long with inconsistency but most importantly, with poor goaltending. Rolly finally gives the team what they need. He stops 44 shots by the end of the game (as compared to 28 by Legace).
With 5 minutes left in the first overtime, the Red Wings think they have scored. But fortunately for the Oilers, the puck has gone underneath the net on the side, therefore, no goal. According to Red Wings forward, Kirk Maltby, he didn't care whether it was a goal or not, "We were hoping if we got off the ice soon enough, they wouldn't review it." Such great sportsmanship, isn't it?
The game continues into the second overtime. It's getting late as it is now the next day. At 8:44 minutes into the second overtime, Jarret Stoll ends the game.
It is 12:30 am, and for some of us who need to be up in less than five hours for work, that matters not. The Oilers have taken a 2 games to 1 series lead, and hope to put a strangle-hold on the series on Thursday. Sleep is of no consequence at the moment. The Oilers dominate the thoughts and hearts of all Edmontonians, and the drive home is greeted by the honking of horns and screams of delight!!
Playoff hockey is back in Edmonton, where it rightfully belongs.
The object of affection.....Lord Stanley's Cup
Update: Game Four, all I have to say about that, Detroit is a dirty fucking team and they all deserve to die. QUIT DIVING you bunch of pansies!!!!
19 avril Half the game is mental; the other half is being mental !!Hey peoples, sorry I've been away from the blog. I've had technical difficulties (aka: I've been without my computer since I had to take it in to get the cd/dvd drive replaced over three weeks ago. They had to order it from the manufacturer, and it's back-ordered. Stupid computer, only six months old and it broke down already! Ugh technology sucks sometimes)!! So I'm quickly using my work computer to post this before I go home for the night!!
Well the biggest news of the day, hell the year, is my Edmonton Oilers made the playoffs. They beat Anaheim last Thursday, with Ales Hemsky (or who myself and Roxy like to call him, Hestitant Hemsky, for his reluctance to shoot the puck) scoring the winning goal with less than 35 seconds left in the game. However, the playoff spot was not clinched yet. We had to wait. One hour later, the Vancouver Canucks lost and the Oilers cliniched the final spot.
The last game of the regular season was Monday and saw the Oilers take it to Colorado! My man Igor Ulanov finally played. He hasn't played in a month. Come on MacT, put him in. He's a great player, much better than Greene, who is very green!!!
Woohooo we're off to the playoffs. I'm very excited. I haven't had playoff hockey since 2000. I was living in Brandon at the time, and I convinced my then-boyfriend to come to Edmonton with me to watch the playoffs. We went to game three, in which the Oilers won, and it was a glorious night. Unfortunately, the Oilers lost the series (against the evil Dallas Stars) but it was a great night.
So six years later, playoff hockey has returned to Scarlett's life and life is gooooooood!!! I personally think everyone is underestimating the Oil and they will do some damage in the playoffs.
So after my hockey news, nothing else matters! lol. Nah, I had a great long weekend. I had the Friday and Monday off for Easter. Cool, a four day weekend. I made a turkey on Sunday, and it turned out fantastic. Of course it did. I'm a fabulous cook....best that I've ever known! Okay, my mother is the best but damn I'm a close second. Okay, I'm third cause my Auntie Audrey is second. But it's a very close third!!!
So now an update on my reading plan. I finished Pride and Prejudice last week and then instead of going straight to my list of books to read, I threw in another book. I read The Da Vinci Code again. Since the movie will be coming out in a few weeks, I thought I should read the book again, to refresh the memory since it had been over a year since I had originally read it. Great book, awful writing style and structure but the story is entertaining as hell.
I am now currently reading Bram Stoker's Dracula. It's a very good book,an epistolary novel (written as a series of diary entries, telegrams, and letters from characters). It is quite an effective tool, it gives the novel more realism.
Anyways, I'm half way through Dracula. I had never read this book before so the only imagine I've ever had of Dracula was the fantastic Gary Oldman in the movie version of Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992), in which Dracula is portrayed in a very romantic light. So while I read this book, I have Gary Oldman in mind. Well I have Gary Oldman in mind normally all the time, so this is no different! I love him!
Well, not much new. My second job is wrapping up at the end of the month. My boss is moving to Chicago in May so I'm in the middle of my last two projects. I will miss this job, mostly because the research was interesting but mainly due to my boss. She has been the best boss I've ever had, and it was so much fun to work with her. When I got my other job last September, I debated about resigning this position (it's part-time) but she needed me. So I stayed (plus the extra money was good). I am looking forward to having only the one job, so my evenings and weekends will be totally free. Woohoooo!!
I will be heading home to Manitoba in June. I can't wait to see everyone. I haven't been home since Xmas so I'm really looking forward to seeing my family. There are no family in Edmonton that matter, so I'm totally pumped to see my people back home!!
Plus, I am in the midst of planning my trip to Germany. I am planning on going the first two weeks of October. So I had my trip books out last night, and was debating about which cities to visit. Thus far, I have decided to go to Frankfurt, Aachen, Cologne, Berlin, Potsdam, Wittenberg, Leipzig, and Munich. Several of these cities (Potsdam, Aachen, Wittenberg) will only be day trips since I am going out of my way to see several important sights.
In Aachen, it is the site of Charlemagne's burial and church. Potsdam has the resting place of Frederick the Great of Prussia and his palace. Wittenberg is the home of Martin Luther, the great Protestant visionary!! Also, near Stuttgart is the Hohenzollern Castle (Hohenzollern is the family name of the Kings of Prussia).
So the planning of this trip will be very interesting since I need to take into account Oktoberfest in Munich, a decision is to be made whether I should go to Vienna and Salzburg (and if I do, then I need to coordinate Vienna State Opera's schedule with everything else), how long to stay in each city, and so on. Lots of things to plan. It's quite exciting! I'm going to the homeland! Woohoooo!!!!
Well that's my quick update. As soon as I get my computer back, I can do a better blog. I'm sure there will be more hockey blogs coming up, because the Oilers will give me lots of material !!!!!
Auf Wiedersehen
Scarlett Ulanov
30 mars Wear the old coat and buy the new book!In a January blog, I listed the books I was currently reading and a list of books I was planning on reading. Well it's time for an update. I finished several of the books on my currently reading list (plus several that were not on the list). I had Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix listed, and yes I read it. However, I also read Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. So I reread the entire series again! I took a break after those books but I'm back with a vengeance!
I just finished another book on my list, The Historian. Umm, it had some good parts to it, but it was way too long. It's called an editor!! Basic story of the book: Dracula is real, he's still alive and he's recruiting. The Historian, actually several of them, are on his trail, trying to find him. Yes, those historians are VERY smart indeed! (did I mention I happen to be one myself? hahahaha).
Here is a question: if you were presented with every lasting life, would you take it? The only downside was that you must kill in order to live. I've been thinking of this. You wouldn't necessarily have to kill.....what about blood banks? Or animals? I'd be okay with killing animals for immortality. Hmmm now that I say that out loud, I'm not sure. It sounds quite callous, and cruel. Plus, I'm not a fan of blood. I don't think I'd enjoy drinking it on a daily basis. But immortality would be hard to resist, or would it?? What say you?
Okay, now that three books are off my list.....next up is Pride and Prejudice by Austen followed by The Penelopiad by Margaret Atwood. I started a book club with a few friends of mine, and I chose the first book; Pride and Prejudice. I thought it was an appropriate choice. It was a book that I've wanted to read, my friends felt the same way, and with the release of the new movie, it was just perfect timing. So that book is up next!! We were suppose to finish it by the end of March, but we're all so busy. We'll push it back until end of April. Then we'll have a book club meeting at my place, where I shall provide lots of food and drink for our discussion, then we'll watch the movie. Roxy made a good suggestion: we pick books that have been made into movies. We don't have to all do that, but I think it's an excellent choice!
So after those two books, I shall hit my "to be read" next list! These are the books on the list:
Bram Stoker's Dracula
Resurrection by Leo Tolstoy
Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri
Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer
The Idiot by Fyodor Dostoevsky
The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas
Faust by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
Lady Chatterley's Lover by D.H. Lawrence
Le Morte Darthur by Sir Thomas Mallory
Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov
So the goal is to finish P&P by next weekend (I should be able to do that. I did the 650 page Historian in four days, so bring it on). Then finish The Penelopiad by the following week. So mid-April, I'm planning to be starting Bram Stoker's Dracula! Mwuaa haaa haaa!!! I vant to suck yer bloood!!! Okay, that was cheesy!
Well I'm off to the hockey game. My Oilers are fighting hard for a playoff spot! They're got to put it together soon; they've been very inconsistent!! If they can put it all together, they have an excellent chance for the playoffs. They are contenders.....on paper right now. Come on guys, put it together on the ice and you've got it!!!!
Our fearless leader, Ryan Smyth, who is having an excellent year!!!
UPDATE: Oilers beat the LA Kings (not Kings tonight, hahaha) 4-0. Ahhh my favorite types of games, blow outs!!!! And a shutout as well. That's my boys! Keep it up, or else!!!!
18 mars If you're lucky enough to be Irish, then you're lucky enough!
May your glass be ever full, May the roof over your head be always strong, And may you be in heaven Half an hour before the devil knows you're dead. -Irish drinking toast
I hope you all had a great St. Patrick's Day yesterday! You all know the saying.....there are two types of people, those who are Irish and those who wish they were! I happen to be lucky enough to be Irish (I'm also German, but we're celebrating the Irish part today)!!
I went out with some friends last night to celebrate St. Paddy's Day. It was a lovely evening, drinking green beer and Irish whiskey! Fantastic!!!
Towards midnight, it started snowing and it hasn't stopped yet. We've gotten at least 20 cm of snow thus far.
As you can see, we've gotten lots of snow in less than fifteen hours! I'd better get the dog sleigh out! hahaha
Well Roxy, Chris, Danessa and I are heading out to the hockey game tonight. The Oilers will be playing Detroit. My boys are sitting in 6th place right now, with winning the last two games. The trades made at the deadline last week are finally paying off. The Oilers traded for a new goalie, Rolason and a forward, Sergei Samsonov. Yup another Russian player, who has been spectacular thus far. He assisted on the overtime winning goal on Thursday night against the evil Calgary Flames. We crushed them so hard, they are now known as the Calgary Sparks....the flame has almost been put out!!! hahaha But what a move Sergei made. He has been fantastic!!!!
Happy St. Patrick's Day to everyone and hope you all had fun last night!!!!
4 mars The only good is knowledge and the only evil is ignorance!!Well the Olympics have passed and Canada had a great showing!! We won 24 medals, which put us in third place....awesome! That was seven more than four years ago; our best showing ever. Way to go Canada (even though there were numerous chokings....calling Men's hockey)!!
Now, the countdown begins to the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver, Canada! I am so excited. I will be there for sure. Tickets won't be on sale until 2008 so I have plenty of time to save up!
Well the Oscars are tomorrow....who's gonna win? Well I think Brokeback Mountain should win the Best Picture hands down, and I think it will. If not, Crash is close to being an upset. But Brokeback Mountain is such an impressive movie, beautiful and heart-breaking. It must win.
Best Actor: Well Philip "Loser" Hoffman will be winning unfortunately. I would prefer Joaquin Phoenix or Heath Ledger to win instead, their performances were so much more complex and moving.
Best Actress: Well Reese Witherspoon is winning. Her performance was okay, but worthy of an oscar? Ummm no way! Joaquin carried her in Walk the Line. She's winning because she is loved in Hollywood, not because this is the best performance of the year (isn't that the case, usually? Unfortunately yes).
Rachel Weisz will win Supporting Actor, and I personally would like Paul Giamatti to win for Supporting Actor (I'm still pissed off Russell Crowe was snubbed this year for Best Actor. His performance in Cinderella Man was without a doubt, the best of the year. But he's unliked in Hollywood, so he gets snubbed). Georgie Clooney might win here, I hope not cause I find him annoying. But once again, he is liked. Being liked is apparently more important than actually having the best performance. Argh, so irritating!
Anyways, I'm having an Oscar party tomorrow night. Lots of food, alcohol and making fun of all the nominees! Of course, we really want to find out who wins for Best Animated Short. I'm dying to find out.....most important category of the night! lol
Well I'm heading out with some friends and family tonight. We're going scoping for Oilers! Last Sunday, the Edmonton Oilers held an autograph session and of course, I was there. My friend Roxy and I went; we had to see our favorite Oilers. Georges Laraque for her, and Igor Ulanov for me. Here are a few pics from that lovely day!
Hmmm Igor!!! What sweet man! We chatted in partly in Russian; it was such a lovely moment! Very nice guy!!! I've got to brush on my Russian so next time, we can talk more! Love him!
Georges Laraque (the nicest smile ever)
Jarret Stoll
Ethan Moreau
Well while we were waiting in line, we heard the scoop on where the boys hang out. So we're heading there tonight to check it out, and hopefully find some! lol
Have a good night peoples!!!
Update: No sightings of the Oilers tonight. Will try again next week! lol
Update: Crash wins Best Picture. Wow, Brokeback was robbed. The Oscars sucked this year....boooooring!!!!
22 février Victory belongs to the most persevering! So has everyone been enjoying the Olympics? I have and have not! I have been loving the alpine/cross-country skiing and biathlon. They are my two secret addictions! Living in Canada, they are not very popular sports so I rarely get a chance to see it during non-Olympic years. So every four years, I get two weeks of European sports! Excellent!
I got this idea from a friend's blog.
My all-time favorite Olympian was a cross-country skiier..... Bjørn Dæhlie from Norway.
Bjørn Dæhlie won eight gold and four silver medals at the 1992 Albertville, 1994 Lillehammer and 1998 Nagano Olympic Games. Bjørn Dæhlie is the best!!! Actually, he is the most successful winter Olympian!!! He was just so damn great. He went all out from start to finish. I still have some of his performances saved on video tape from 1992, 1994 and 1998 (Yes I'm a die-hard Olympic fan, I actually tape them). I haven't watched them for awhile but after the Olympics are over, I think it's time for some Dæhlie circa 1992!
Well the Canadian men are into the Olynpic hockey playoffs, and unfortunately, they will be playing Russia later today. I'm very sad. I was hoping for a Canada-Russia FINAL not a quarterfinal match. It's also the first meeting between Russia and Canada in the playoffs since the 1992 final, so it's been a long long time since we played each other. So wrong, this should always be the final. They are the two best teams in the world!
The men had a better game yesterday against the Czechs so let's hope their good play continues today. The Olympics will NOT be a success if we don't win hockey gold. It's the only medal that matters.
Our Canadian women won hockey gold so let's keep going to get the sweep of hockey gold at the Olympics! Come on guys!!!!!
Update: Canada lost, they choked. Of course, I didn't see the game since I'm still at work so I suppose I shouldn't try to analyze the game. Thanks Ice Baby for the comments! I guess Russia was just too good today but it would have been better if it was a final instead of the quarterfinals. Well Canada, get preparing for Vancouver 2010!!!! No pressure on ya....hahahaha! Four loooooooooooong years of pressure, better start getting used to it.
So who should I cheer for now? Normally I cheer for Russia second, but ummm they just beat my boys, so I'm not too happy with them right now. The Finns? Ugh no thanks. They're just too arrogant right now. Swedes? No way, not the way they tanked their last game so they didn't have to play Canada or Russia in the quarterfinal. Czechs or Slovaks? Can't cheer for the Czechs, they beat us in the 1998 semis, took our chance for gold away (yeah I hold a grudge). Slovaks? Well they're losing to the Czechs right now, so that might not even be an option? Ok, I guess I'm not cheering for anyone. Ugh hockey sucks today!
11 février Success always occurs in private, and failure in full view!
XX Olympic Winter Games
The games have begun!! I watched the opening ceremonies last night and wow it was incredible. Normally opening ceremonies are boring and I only watch to see the parade of nations, but the Italians did a great job! Here are a few pics!
Gymnast Juri Chechi producing the flames of Passion The famous Ferrari made an appearance! A beautiful human-made dove!
Next up, the parade of nations.....my personal favorite part of the opening ceremonies.
Here comes the Canadians. I'm actually not impressed with their outfits. I believe Canada should always be wearing lots of red. Why the mostly white? And what is with those ugly hats? Very disappointing!!
My second favorite team....the Russians!!
And my next favorite team, the Germans! But why oh why are you wearing florescent green???? Hey, you don't have green on your flag!!! Did you forget??? Ahhh my poor Germans must be voted the worst dressed at these Olympics! Very ugly outfits. Oh well, you're still one of my faves!!!
Next up, the lighting of the flame (I think the wrong person was chosen to lit the flame, although she's still a great Olympian, Stephania Belmondo). The GREAT Alberto Tomba should have lit the flame, but he did bring the torch into the stadium. The lighting of the Olympic Flame!
Canada has won it's first GOLD MEDAL!!! Way to go Jennifer Heil who just won gold in Freestyle Skiing....women's moguls!! Jennifer hails from Spruce Grove, Alberta (yes the same city that Oiler goalie great Grant Fuhr is from). Way to go Jennifer!!!!!!!!!!!!
Medal Ceremony coming up soon!!! 22 janvier Distrust everyone in whom the impulse to punish is powerful! It's been another lovely week at Casa de Scarlett. Last weekend, I went to see a musical celebration of Mozart. It was dedicated to the 250th anniversary of his birth so Danessa, Roxy and I went. We had some very wonderful music such as the Overture to "Bastien and Bastienne," Piano Concerto in A Major and the piece du resistance......Finale of Act II in "The Marriage of Figaro." It was fantastic, they played a short part of his wonderful opera "Figaro" and it was incredible. The entire opera will be played in February which of course we will going to. What beautiful music!!! Although I was disappointed to hear it sung in English when it was originally written in German, that's fine. I shall see the original German opera when I go to Germany later this year!
Also last weekend, we saw the return of "24" finally. Ahhh Kiefer Sutherland, glad to have you back on a weekly basis! What a great show, can't wait until Monday for the next episdoe. OMG the upcoming Monday is going to be so busy. Of course I must go vote (Conservative, who else would I vote for? No one, the rest are degenerates! lol), then I have a hockey game (evil Calgary is in town) and 24 to watch. Thank heavens for the VCR! Hopefully in the future, I can get one of those digital recorders, aka TiVo. Shaw has one that is similar but it's 500 bucks or something. I shall wait until the price drops! Maybe put that on my my xmas list for next year? Hmmm good thinking!
I have decided to really devote myself to reading. I got into the bad habit of ignoring my books so I have decided to finish the books I am currently reading. Then when they are done, I will tackle the books that I own but have not read yet. So yes, a plan has been set!
Books I am currently reading:
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova
The Penelopiad by Margaret Atwood
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
Books that will be read next:
Bram Stoker's Dracula
Resurrection by Leo Tolstoy
Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri
Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer
The Idiot by Fyodor Dostoevsky
The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas
Faust by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
Lady Chatterley's Lover by D.H. Lawrence
Le Morte Darthur by Sir Thomas Mallory
Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov
Yes that is a long list of books to read next. Most have been started in the past and I just never finished them. I am dedicated to finishing them. While I was making the list this weekend, I finished a book already so I had to take it off my currently reading book list. hahaha! There are even more books to add to the "to be read" list but this is a start. Read these first and then come up with a new list!
I have had a great weekend of reading and relaxing! It was quite lovely!!!
